We’re kind of buzzing around here about Bicycling Magazine giving the b1 props in its 2014 Buyer’s Guide. Editors took notice of the b1’s durability, stating that the “American-made b1 will outlast most bikes.” I’m thrilled that they recognize our b1 as a tool worthy of an enviable toolkit as that was the goal for our products from the start.
The b1 was envisaged while I was touring the Belgian cyclocross circuit with Boulder Cycle Sport bike shop co-owner Brandon Dwight. Zdenek Stybar’s team mechanic was using a hand-made chain keeper, essentially a hardware store bastardization, which is what they all are, until now. We were three sheets to the wind but saw its simplistic elegance through glassy eyes. Ideas kept building upon themselves. Brandon thought I could make a sophisticated version, so I did. It evolved into the b1, the first product butter felt good enough to launch this brand. I hope it lands in your toolkit.
